Looks like we will have surf this weekend!

It's been quite a while, but finally some small to moderate southern hemi swell is on the menu for the coming weekend. A series of 2 gales pushed northeast from under New Zealand last week into the weekend that generated winds in the 40-45 kts range and seas at 30-33 ft aimed reasonably well towards the mainland, though a long ways away. That swell has already hit Hawaii resulting in waves consistent with expectations, helping to verify what is coming our way. Southern CA to see 3.5-4.0 surf at exposed breaks with standout spots maybe a foot more on the peaks. (WaveWatch)
